Joey Tolbert, singer/songwriter, approaches music from a folk and sometimes gospel approach. She partnered up with her husband, Matt, to write four original tracks on her debut CD- "I Know Love". The album also adds a contemporary flare to traditional hymns such as "How Great Thou Art" and "Pass Me Not". Joey says, "I wanted a nice variety that was a blend of church favorites and the vibrancy of today's Christian music." Singing since the age of 2 (her mother has it all on tape) she has always had a passion for music and the stage. She was both classically trained and trained in a Broadway style between the ages of 15-19. Participating in talent competitions during her teenage years and singing for church and in choirs has given Joey a diverse approach to music.
Joey's second album, a Christmas EP, was released in 2005. She is currently working on her third project and is looking at a Summer 2009 release date. Joey and Matt's music was recently used for Military Mission Makeover (www.militarymissionmakeover.com) for a television promo that was aired on CNN. She has also been a member of Message of Mercy since 2005 and has participated on two DVD projects and two CD projects with the group.
Joey, her husband, and daughter Lela Joy live in Tennessee and they are both active in their churches and in music ministry. Tolbert adds that..."we (Matt and I) know that God has blessed our lives with music and the ability to share music with others and we dedicate our talents to Him."
