Whenever this musical family appears in concert, there's something special, almost "magical," that happens. Concert goers testify that a Christian family singing together brings an incredible sense of "heaven and home" to life. Now, you can enjoy this unique experience in your own home.
The family began singing together in a little Russian-speaking church on the farm lands of Saskatchewan, Canada. Even at a very young age, the 5 boys, (Lonnie, Joedy, Dallas, Eugene and Rudy) were harmonizing with their parents (Joe and Anne). Now, there are 4 generations of singers in the family that has been singing together for over 50 years.
If Joe & Anne Melashenko (patriarch and matriarch of the clan), had known at the time what would eventually happen to their five small sons they raised back on the wheat fields of Saskatchewan, they would not have believed it. Amazingly, the family had its beginnings on a simple, small farm that had just one bedroom and no heat, running water, and plumbing. One would imagine that they must have grown up on a "Little House on the Prairie."
At a very early age, all five sons learned to sing in four-part harmony and have been singing ever since. Because of this, they fell in love with Jesus, the Person they always sang about. Roughly fifty years later, they are all now faithful Christian workers--three pastors and two teachers. Although the miles have separated them, they have always continued to sing together, and even now, are joined by all of their children. Music has indeed always been an important part of their lives.
The Melashenko Family Singers are no strangers to many within the Christian community. Over the years, many have enjoyed the deep, rich, bass voice of Joe Melashenko. Lonnie, the oldest son, is now the director/speaker for the Voice of Prophecy, a radio broadcast that preaches the Good News to all. Joedy, the second son, is the associate speaker and youth director for the Quiet Hour, another wonderful ministry within the media that reaches out to people.
